Well, I'm announcing the end of this blog. I've been getting tired with Xanga and its attempts to become a social networking site rather than a blog site. I don't think I'll be deleting this account, at least not now, simply because I'll want to comment on some blogs here, but I am going to be withdrawing from the world of Xanga for the most part.

Anyway, I'm moving to a blogspot—I like the simplicity of the setup, and the fact that anyone can comment on it, not just those who’ve built their own account. After more than two years on Xanga, I guess that moving might be a little bit weird, but that's what I’m going to do. I'm expecting that my new blog will be a bit more serious than this Xanga has been. We’ll see.

Anyway my new blog is:

http://kjgd.blogspot.com/

My initials, for those wondering what on earth “KJGD” is supposed to mean.

Yeah, so those of you interested in keeping up with my postings can bookmark it I guess. I hope to see you all around! God bless!

Well, I had my Taekwondo test on Thursday, and passed. It went well. I felt like the sparring match wasn't as good as it could have been--it didn't flow very well, but other than that, it all went pretty well. The form went very smoothly. Yeah, so here's a picture of Kaleb and I about to spar:

My mum found a law enforcement camp in Washington that I think I'm going to go to this coming summer. It's staffed by the Washington State Patrol (State Police) and it takes place at the Washington State Police Academy, which is pretty much awesome. It's basically just a week of the Police Academy, with training in everything--reporting, defensive tactics, firearms training, SWAT and K-9 demonstrations, simulator, lots of pushups, etc. So, I'm excited about that, because it should be awesome, if I go, which I think I probably will.

Wow, it's Christmas Eve tomorrow. This year has really blown by quickly... I love Christmastime... it's my favorite time of the year. It might have something to do with all the amazing Christmas goodies that the wonderful women in my family make. I finished Christmas shopping today. LOL, perhaps a little bit late, but whatever. I made it.

I love family. Just everything about it. So very much. It's just amazing. And mine is particularly awesome.

Ouch, I'm sore. I went to gymnastics last night for the first time in ages. And Hans decided he wanted me to try an Iron Cross, which I kind of pulled off (burning more energy in the second I almost-kinda-held-it than I've probably burned in a single second in my whole life.) but, yeah. I was teaching, and I’ve decided teaching gymnastics is fun. (When the kids are cool.) I think I'll probably get a job doing it this summer, and next fall too.

Okay, so I'm going to be done for now. Merry Christmas all!

Well, I finally sent in the registration for my passport today. We got the photos… I won’t say it looks like a mug shot, but I do look like I’m about to kill somebody. It’s kind of the cool, calculated look of death. It’s pretty awesome, especially since I wasn’t even trying. Unlike most passport pictures that I’ve seen, it’s actually not that bad of a picture—but, like I said, I do look like I’m going to kill someone. Hopefully they don’t think I’m a terrorist.

We had a choir concert today, which was cool. I think it went very well, which is always good. We had one on Friday as well, and it did not go very well at all. We had pretty much no dynamics and all, and it was lame.

Oh, and I’m now officially up for testing for my first belt on the 21st. Which is awesome, because it’ll be great to actually have a rank in Taekwondo. And I might be able to actually refer to myself as a martial artist, rather than just a trainee. Although of course I’ll be that too--I'll always be that. But it’ll still be cool. I’m so glad I joined Taekwondo. Free sparring has to be just about the most awesome thing I’ve ever done. It’s really pretty much awesome. Dancing is still more fun, but it’s close, and obviously dancing doesn't have the immediate practicality of free sparring. Free sparring is like fencing except you have so many more options. You never realize how much you don’t know until you start to learn it. Or go up against someone who does know it. There’s this awesome new block I learned last Wednesday where you hook someone’s leg when they kick at you and just flip them off their feet. I kind of learned it the hard way though—by kicking Mr. Day while we were free sparring. I got a little bruised hitting the ground. Ah well. Of course, that’s one block. I’ve got so much more to learn. It kind of bites that I won’t be able to make my blackbelt before I’m gone, because that’d really be cool.

I think that I’m more confused about a lot of things that I’ve been in a long while. The nice thing is, I’m not worried. Things will make sense eventually, and that’s what matters.

Oh, and I have my English lit midterm on Thursday. I have absolutely no idea how I’m going to do. So, if you guys could pray I do well that'd be awesome...

I’m looking forward to Christmas break a lot. Even though I don’t really get a real one. But I’m still looking forward to it.

Okay, so, this is probably the first substantial post I’ve written in months, isn’t it?

And lastly, Hans gets home Friday, and I am incredibly excited.

God bless!

P.S. This CD has two good songs on it... out of twelve or so. Yeah. Not cool.

And now: the end of the year quiz that I took a year ago.

1. What did you do in 2006 that you'd never done before? Started a martial art.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year? No, unfortunately. But yes I will make more this year.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth? Not super close to me.

4. Did anyone close to you die? No, thankfully.

5. What countries did you visit? Hahaha! None. And I actually don’t mind.

6. What would you like to have in 2007 that you lacked in 2006? More wisdom.

7. What date from 2006 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? Probably the day my troop went camping at the coast and it poured rain the whole time. Because that was a cool trip, for a lot of reasons, and my first trip as SPL, I think.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Learning how to pray.

9. What was your biggest failure? All the things I never did.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury? Nothing serious. Bruises, cuts, scrapes, but nothing major like broken bones or severed arteries.

11. What was the best thing you bought? My Taurus 94B2

14. Where did most of your money go? Tour. That’s not until next year, but I’ve already spent a bunch of money on it.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? My gun, Pirates of Penzance, a few career things.

16. What song will always remind you of 2006? Trademark, by Relient K

Compared to this time last year, are you:

17. Thinner or fatter? Umm, I’m not sure. I gained weight, but not in fat. So, yeah. Whatever that means.

18. Richer or poorer? Poorer. Tour. Yeah, pretty much.

19. What do you wish you'd done more of? Taekwondo--I should have joined it earlier…

20. What do you wish you'd done less of? Oh, there are a lot of things. Mostly time wasting activities. Kind of like this quiz.

21. How will you be spending Christmas? Home, with family.

22. Did you fall in love in 2006? Ask me in a year or so and I’ll decide then.

24. What was your favorite TV program? I’ve watched less than five minutes of TV this whole year…

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year? I don’t really hate anyone. But there are certainly some people I dislike a whole lot more this year than I did last.

26. What was the best book you read? Fahrenheit 451.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery? Relient K or Casting Crowns.

28. What did you want and get? Gun, etc.

29. What did you want and not get? Not a whole lot. I don’t tend to want a lot, and the stuff I really want I work to get.

30. What was your favorite film of this year? That I saw this year? Black Hawk Down. That came out this year? I’m not sure I could decide.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? Umm, fifteen, and…. what did I do? Oh right, I had an airsoft war and ate pizza. Pretty awesome!

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? More time studying the Bible.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2006? “Personal fashion concept”... That makes me laugh. Umm, mostly I wore cargo pants and a T-shirt. With the occasional kilt thrown in for good measure.

34. What kept you sane? Well, I never really felt all that close to going insane, but if anyone kept me sane, it was God.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? None.

36. What political issue stirred you the most? Gun control.

37. Who did you miss? A lot of people. Mostly various people from the shows I’ve been in and Hans.

38. Who was the best new person you met? I don’t think assigning the “best” new person is really fair. But I met a huge amount of awesome new people this year, and it makes me very happy!

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2006: Hugging people is good. I’ve hugged people way more than I used to this year.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year: Hmm. Okay, I’ll give it a shot.

“When I'm weak, You make me strong
When I'm blind, You shine Your light on me
Cause I'll never get by living on my own ability
How refreshing to know You don't need me
How amazing to find that you want me
So I'll stand on Your truth, and I'll fight with Your strength
Until You bring the victory, by the power of Christ in me,”

I had a great Thanksgiving, with lots of smiles, laughing, and sparkling cider. I hope you all are well!

It's been dumping snow since Sunday, and we've got well over a foot now.

We went sledding on Sunday... it was awesome! So here's a picture after we were done and all soaking wet:

It was fun. We had a huge snowball fight while we were out there too. It made me happy. And then we came home, and drank hot chocolate and dried off by the fire. Adam, Nathan and Kaleb stuck around afterwards and we had pizza and watched the movie Timeline. I wasn't expecting to like it much, but it was really very good, despite being pretty implausible (but hey, aren't all time travel movies?) The thing I liked least about it was the way that it was set in the 100 years war, and all of the English guys were mean bad guys and all the French were nice good guys. It just kind of annoyed me, since I’m sure that there were perfectly decent people on each side of that particular war. But other than that, it really was really good. I’m actually thinking it might go on my favorite movies list, but I’m not sure. I’ll have to watch it again before I can say for sure though. I'd recommend it highly.

Well, school started again yesterday. I had a ton of work to do, and even more today. I need to finish this paper of mine that's due at 1:45. Bleh.

God bless!
